Yikes! Only a week until Christmas!! As usual, my plans for a calm December have been foiled by my enthusiasm (there is so much merry to make!) and the poorly timed trip down to Atlanta to move our wholesale showroom to another location (a story for another time…) didn’t help. We are still packing up orders here at the warehouse and getting our own holiday gifts wrapped, and sealed with a kiss off to some of our nearest and dearest. There is still a LITTLE time to get Curly Girl goodies under the tree in time (cut off for express delivery is TOMORROW!) and we have added a few more festive things that will fill your stockings with care!

We are are a small business who loves small businesses and this year we wanted to partner up to make some special additions to our product line. You have all heard about our small-batch chocolates made with love in Knoxville, TN, but we also found a fabulous small-run candle maker right in our neighborhood that makes the BEST smelling Christmas Tree candle ever (we have smelled one or two…) and they agreed to make something special with us, just for you!

Our limited edition hand-poured-smells-just-like-a-christmas-tree candles are available on our website only, and only while supplies last. Get one for you, and one for somebody’s stocking. You won’t regret it!

We would like to introduce you to Vessel Candle Company. We asked them a little bit about themselves and wanted to share:

1.)Who are you? Where are you? :

Sarah and Ariana Ducas of Vessel Candle Co. based in Newton, MA

2.) Tell us a little bit about why you started Vessel and the process of running your small business:

We have always loved candles and crafting, so we decided to try making our own and fell in love with the process. We love creating scents that invoke special feelings and make people happy!

3.) What was your first big success?

Our first big success would be when we made it into Crompton Collective’s store as a handmade vendor selling our candles. It’s such a cool place, and the owner, Amy Lynn Chase, is a great entrepreneur.

4.) What does it mean to shop small to you, and how does shopping small affect you and your business?

Shopping small means a lot to us. We put a lot of time and effort into what we make as do other small businesses. When other businesses decide to buy from us over mass-produced products, it helps support local commerce, and we also keep that in mind when we’re shopping.

5.) You did these candles for us as a custom project – what other kinds of customization can you do?

We can customize candles for any type of event. Wedding favors and bridal shower favors have been the most popular, but candles make perfect gifts year round.

6.) You seem to have tons of scents you create – what is your favorite? Have you ever experimented with a scent that totally failed??

Currently, Citrus Grove and Tree in a Jar. We don’t have any scents that have been failures per se, but we do have some that aren’t personally our favorite. Every nose is different, so we don’t consider them failures as people like different kinds of scents.

7.)Who are some of your favorite local shops people can find your candles in?

Crompton Collective in Worcester, Bow & Arrow Collective in the North End, Rummage in Cambridge, and Flock in the South End. All of these shops are unique and support local businesses.
